FIRST IMPRESSIONS
“You never get a second chance to make a first impression!” This is all too important when entering the golf course property. Attention is always needed at the main entrance. The immediate area of the parking lots and clubhouse grounds ARE the first impressions! It is my intention to focus on these areas just as much as the golf course and sports fields will receive. Here are pictures featuring some of my work showing golfers and guests what they should see as they enter the property of any golf course or country club.
GREENS & COLLARS
Great turf density is needed for a smooth roll and good speed on greens! I work very hard to make sure daily, weekly and monthly agronomic practices are planned and implemented on all playing surfaces, most importantly, the greens. No matter what grass you are growing, regular grooming/brushing, needle tining (venting), topdressing, and chemical/fertilizer is performed to maximize turf health.
A clear definition of greens, collars, approaches and rough to playing surfaces is important! In order for this practice to take place, I will provide constant communication and training to the Green staff. The overall appearance of the “step” look is a detail that will be accomplished.
TEES, APPROACHES & FAIRWAYS
The tees and approaches are an integral part of the golf course. Approaches are used by golfers as an extension of the green using a putter to advance the ball. Approaches are treated the same as the greens. The largest areas of fine turf on the golf course are the fairways. Agronomic practices will be applied for a good bounce and roll, clean lie and solid stance. Again, visual appearance, sharp edges, clean-cut edges will be the routine for consistent playability.
